About Amy

Amy Hallam is an employment law specialist and is head of our Employment Law Team at BRM’s Chesterfield and Sheffield offices.

Qualifying as a solicitor in 2002 she has practised employment law for over 18 years and became a Director at BRM in April 2014.

With over 18 years’ experience in employment law, Amy advises employers of varying sizes and industries nationally in all aspects of employment law as well as overseeing BRM's successful subscription-based employment law service scheme which has been running since 2004.

Representing clients across the UK in Employment Tribunal Claims, Amy has helped companies successfully defend many five and six figure sum claims against them and has also successfully recovered costs awards from claimants of up to £25,000. Amy recently acted for the Claimants (a union and its members) in a claim successfully securing a Tribunal Judgment in excess of £4.5million.

Amy has specialist knowledge of the care industry, with detailed knowledge of CQC requirements and knowledge of assisting her care client businesses expand and open new sites, Amy’s care experience includes care homes, specialist dementia care and domiciliary care. Amy also advises clients in many other industries from IT, Cloud storage, training companies, manufacturing and engineering.

Amy takes a common sense approach to all problems and advice she gives. She provides the client with their options and risks in a simple and concise way so that an informed decision can be made quickly. Amy has a breadth of knowledge that enables her to advise clients on contracts of employment and policies that are bespoke to their business up to defending high value claims and advising on restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements.

Amy also regularly assists the Corporate and Commercial Property Teams with any employment law queries arising from sales and acquisitions and commercial property transactions including TUPE.
