In an attempt to help companies in our struggling economy, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has announced a number of changes to be made in employment law.
From 1st April 2012, the qualifying period for unfair dismissal will increase from one year to two years.
Fees are also to be introduced which employees will be expected to pay for pursuing employment tribunal claims. The level of these fees are to be decided after a government consultation.
In summary, Mr Osbourne’s announcement suggests the following fee scales are being considered:
