BRM helps drive home sale of £200m turnover Gilder Group
On 01 March 2013, Sheffield-based Gilder Group was sold to car retailer JCT600 for an undisclosed 8 figure sum. Gilders were advised on the deal throughout by Chesterfield law firm, BRM Solicitors.
The Gilder Group, a long standing client of BRM, was the first Volkswagen dealership in the UK and became one of the largest and most successful multi-site car dealerships in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire, employing over 550 people and with a turnover in excess of £200m.
Since 2002, the company has been entirely owned by outgoing Chief Executive, Garry Scotting.
The Commercial team at BRM advising Garry Scotting and The Gilder Group in all aspects of the sale were Partner Sarah Rowland, solicitor Anna Cattee and consultant Rod Shiers. The property transactions were handled by commercial property solicitor Cathy Thomas.
Despite the considerable complexity of the deal BRM, working closely with Garry and other directors of The Gilder Group, were able to complete the deal on schedule.
The sales involved four Volkswagen dealerships in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham and Newark, two Volkswagen commercial dealerships in Newark and Sheffield, the Sheffield SEAT dealership and ancillary businesses in Sheffield and Lincoln.
Sarah Rowland commented:

After the sale was concluded Garry Scotting said:
