Employment Claim Compensation Limits To Rise in April

The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2015 was approved by Parliament last week, authorising the increase of a number of employment compensation provision limits.

Applicable from 6^th April 2015, the compensation limits will be as follows:

Award for unlawful inducement relating to trade union membership or activities, or for unlawful inducement relating to collective bargaining
Old Limit: £3,715
New Limit: £3,800
Unfair dismissal minimum basic award in applicable cases
Old Limit: £5,676
New Limit: £5,807
Unfair dismissal maximum compensatory award
Old Limit: £76,574
New Limit: £78,335
Minimum award for exclusion or expulsion from a union in contravention of section 174 of the 1992 Act and not admitted or readmitted by tribunal application date
Old Limit: £8,669
New Limit: £8,868
Limit on daily amount of guarantee payment payable to an employee
Old Limit: £25
New Limit: £26
Cap on amount of one week’s pay – this is used to calculate things such as basic awards and statutory redundancy payments
Old Limit: £464
New Limit: £475
Maximum basic award for unfair dismissal claims
Old Limit: £13,920
New Limit: £14,250
