Employment Law Update February 2013

I would like to remind all employers of the employment legislation updates which came in to force on 01 February 2013 as part of Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2012 (2012/3007)

These updates include:

The maximum “weeks pay” for the purposes of calculating basic or additional awards of compensation for redundancy or unfair dismissal increased from £430 to £450.
The limit on the compensation award for unfair dismissal increased from £72,300 to £74,200.
The maximum guarantee of payment which is payable to employees in respect of any day increased from £23.50 to £24.20.

All of these new limits will apply to events which give rise to the compensation award or where the payment is made on or after 01 February 2013.
