BRM Solicitors develops its Commercial Property Team
Whilst maintaining its well-earned local reputation, BRM’s Commercial Property Department has been growing in the face of tough market conditions. Growth has been based on BRM’s ability to compete with its regional city and national competitors.
In the last 18 months, headed by partner Adrian Sheehan, BRM’s Commercial Property Team has acted nationwide in development purchases, construction, leases, sales and forward funding sales for hotel, supermarket and retail developments, in transactions up to values of £20 million. In the next 18 months, BRM hope to conclude development transactions of values up to £40 million.
BRM’s reputation has led to more demand for their services and in response to this demand, BRM are pleased to welcome two new members of staff to their Commercial Property Team.
Sanjeev Batra joined BRM in September 2012 from Birmingham based Young and Lee. A graduate of Sheffield University Sanjeev qualified in 2001 and since then has specialised in commercial property work including acquisitions, sales security transactions and leasebacks.
The second new member of the team is Cathy Thomas. From Sheffield and a graduate of Liverpool University, Cathy qualified as a Solicitor 6 years ago and joined BRM in November 2012, previously working for Sheffield commercial law firm Nabarro and Jones and Company in Doncaster. Cathy has experience in all areas of commercial property law but has specialised in landlord and tenant work along with asset management for landlords of industrial estates and retail centres.
Sanjeev and Cathy join George Thomson, a solicitor of some 23 years’ experience in the local commercial property market.
In collaboration with the commercial property team, partners Peter McGowan and Sarah Rowland provide specialist construction law support.
Adrian Sheehan commented:
“I am delighted to welcome Cathy and Sanjeev to my team. Both are excellent Commercial Property Lawyers with proven reputations which I am confident will continue to grow with BRM. The continued growth of our commercial property team appears to represent movement in the economy and I hope that this trend continues.”
